International Abilympics
In September of 2011, Skills Canada Newfoundland and Labrador partnered with the Abilympics Canada Association and sent three young Newfoundlanders with disabilities to the 8th International Abilympics - The Olympics of Abilities. Corey Clarke, Justin Mercer and Paul Thorne were members of the very first Abilympic Team Canada and competed at a world-class exhibition of vocational skills in Seoul, South Korea.

Provincial Abilympics
In 2011, Skills Canada Newfoundland and Labrador offered its first Abilympic Competition in photography. The introduction of Abilympics into SCNL's Provincial Competitions advanced SCNL's efforts to celebrate the talents of young Canadians and provide skilled workers in a declining labour force. The competitive platform is intended to inspire young workers to feature their talents and realize their potential as valuable contributors to Canada's economy. The 2011 Abilympic competitors were:
